We took Libby to get her 1 year picture taken today. Yes we know she is now 13 months old, but life has been busy for the Kurts in Memphis. Besides that, for the past several weeks, Libby has looked like she has been beaten with all of her walking attempts. She has recently learned to fall on her bottom rather than on her face (except today). About 10 minutes before her photos were to be taken at the Picture People, she fell on her face and got a big red mark on her cheek. Hopefully people will just think she was blushing. To see all of the photos click here.
Family, we will be distributing all of the photos next weekend when we come up to visit. Don't worry Sarah, your photo is in the mail.

#2
I heard on the news today that Memphis was ranked the #2 city in the U.S. for violent crimes for 2005. I don't think that the numbers they give are acurate given the fact that Beth and I moved to Memphis during the last half of 2005. So with any luck, next year we will beat out Florence, SC and take our rightful place at the top of the list. Go TIGERS!

Halloween Preview
Libby is going to be a monkey for Halloween this year. I seem more excited about her costume then she does. My niece Elise loved showing off her lion costume, click here to see more pictures.
Not very flattering
Jimmy Kimmel
I had forgotten how funny the Jimmy Kimmel show was. I hadn't watched it in over a year, since here in Memphis it use to not be on until 2 a.m, it has since been moved to 12 a.m. On Wednesday they celebrated the shows 3 year and 9 month anniversary with the "Jimmy Kimmel Live's All-Star Salute to Jimmy Kimmel Live". I DVR'ed it and watched it last night, I laughed until I couldn't laugh anymore. So I set my DVR to record each nights show from now on. Last night one of the funniest people alive, Chris Elliot, was on. As usual he was a laugh a minute, and when Jimmy asked him about when "Get a Life" was going to come out on DVD, Chris told him that he had recorded a commentary for the entire first season, but it was being held up for legal reasons. So I have that to look forward to.
For those of you who missed "Jimmy Kimmel Live's All-Star Salute to Jimmy Kimmel Live, you can watch it on line here.

Earache
While we were up in Michigan last week, Libby started complaining that her ear was hurting her. Since Beth didn't have her ophthalmoscope with her, Emily, in a MacGyver like move, used Libby's elephant toy to "look" inside Libby's ears. Emily's prognosis was that everything was ok.
My Doppleganger
While my niece Elise (that rhymes) was down visiting us here in Memphis, we noticed that she always called me "Apple Jon", but when talking about her other uncle, Rudi, she would clearly say "Uncle Rudi". While watching the Black Eyed Peas on the Today Show this morning, I think I figured out Elise's thought process. Apple (one of the singers from BEP) and I look very very similar.
By the way, I'm on the right, Apple is on the left....or is it the other way around.....
Hernia
My bil Rudi is having surgery on his "diaper area" (as Libby's pediatrican calls it) today. He has had the hernia for a long time now, and has finally gotten up the nerve to have the operation. Please pray that the surgeon and nurses are skilled in micro-surgery as there are a lot of small parts down there.
