Security

Libby has been going to her "school" one day a week for the past 3 months. Everywhere in Memphis has private security guards (banks, libraries, grocery stores) and I knew her school had them also. But today is the first day I noticed that they are armed. I think I have become jaded living here in Memphis.

Potty Time Update

Libby has been doing really well with her potty training. When she wants to she will go 4-5 hours without having a wet or dirty diaper. A few weeks ago she pooped on her potty for the first time and boy was she surprised. She stood up and thought she had done something wrong (and let me tell you by the smell of it...it was wrong). Now that Reagan is mobile, her favorite thing to do is hang out on the back of Libby's toilet, and this makes Libby quite angry. In the picture she is not smiling, she is yelling at Reagan to get off, as usual, Reagan is ignoring her.

Libby went tinkle on the big toilet tonight for the first time. She was quite excited about using her Dora the Explorer potty seat.

Too cold

While in Michigan last week we took advantage of all the snow and decided to take Libby out for some fun. As I was getting all of Libby's layers on, Beth commented that at this age it takes just as long to get Libby dressed as she'll spend out side. Beth was wrong. It took about 10 minutes to get Libby dressed and we spent about 60 seconds outside.
There was about 14-16 inches of snow and the first thing Libby did was lay down and make a snow angel, we then slid down the hill on the side of Papa's yard when Libby's mitten came off. She immediately started crying because she was to cold and wanted to go inside. So we inside and got Libby warmed up. From then on, whenever we asked her if she wanted to go outside and play in the snow, like a true Southern Belle, she would reply, "no, it's too cold".

Easter Dress Preview

Everyone has been asking for a preview of Libby and Reagan's Easter dresses. Libby's dress came with a dress for pink baby.

Watch out Tom Petty

During the Super Bowl half-time show Libby grabbed her guitar and was jamming with Tom Petty.

Does your face hurt?

Yesterday, about 5 minutes before our realtor was going to come over to talk to us about selling our home, Libby tripped going into the bathroom and hit her face on the step stool. Luckily Beth was only about 3 minutes from home because there was a lot of blood coming out of Libby's mouth. Libby wouldn't let us get a very good look inside of her mouth and Beth was worried about how the gums were looking, so she called our dentist and he was able to recommend a Pediatric Dentist for Beth to rush Libby to.

In this picture you can see the black and blue gum, the fat lip and the beginnings of the bruise on Libby's chin. What you can't see is the huge gash on the inside of her lip. I am surprised it didn't need stitches.

This picture was taken this morning and you can see how huge her lip got over night. She can barely talk, is only eating soup and other soft foods and is drooling like a bulldog.
We are hoping that the tooth is ok and doesn't turn into a stink-tooth. Luckily they are still her baby teeth. The dentist said the swelling should go down in another 2 or 3 days.

New Job

It is now official, Beth has a job lined up when she completes her fellowship at St. Jude. We will be moving back to Grand Rapids sometime at the end of June or beginning of July. Beth will be working at the Helen DeVos Children's Hospital. What Beth is most excited about is that her friend Anne will have to start calling her Dr. Kurt all the time now.

Hearts

Yesterday we went out to eat with a few of the other fellows from St Jude. At dinner they had a face painter for the kids. At first Libby wanted nothing to do with it, until Beth got a small heart painted onto her hand. Beth then held Libby's face while Libby got one heart on her cheek. After Libby saw it in the mirror she was so excited that she couldn't wait to get the second heart on. When the face painter put the sparkles on the hearts, Libby's eyes lit up and she thought it was the greatest thing ever.
