Happy 1st Birthday

Today was Libby's first birthday. Even though she was very grumpy most of the day, she loved having her Uncle Dan, Aunt Kris, Uncle Dave, Aunt Cathie, and cousins Matthew, Nathan, Andy, Maddie, Steve-O, and Emily down to visit for her special day. She celebrated with her best friend Isabelle, who turns One tomorrow. There were about 25 people who came to the party. There was tons of food to be eaten by all. Libby loved eating her cake most of all, she got frosting EVERYWHERE and needed two baths to get most of the way clean (we still ended up finding frosting in her ear that night). how is it that your brother, Dave, who lives in the north is significantly tanner than you, who lives in the south? If you had red hair you would look like a bottle of Elmer's glue!

As someone who once lived in the south, I can answer Rudi's question: You see, Rudi, the south is sooo unbelievably HOT in the summertime that everybody stays indoors whenever possible. Since summertime is actually beautiful up here in da north, we are able to be outside and hence, we are tan.

(I notice the same phenomenon when some friends of ours, from our days in Texas, came to visit from their new home in Iowa. They were actually TAN! I had never seen them so golden! And that was when they informed me of the very bit of information that I shared with you.)

Pass it on!

Happy Birthday, Libby! I can't believe you are one year old. Be sure to ask your dad for some asparagus. He's good at cookin' it!
